Sisterhood

Temple Israel Sisterhood

Temple Israel Sisterhood is an organization of women from our congregation and the greater Jewish Memphis area who come together in friendship to benefit Temple Israel, the Jewish community, and beyond. Sisterhood is the collective presence, voice, and strength of women within the structure of our Congregation.  It provides the setting in which its members meet and work together to foster and further the highest ideals of Judaism.

Sisterhood provides you with the opportunity to put your talents, time, and gifts to work for many causes, both large and small.  It will enable you to enrich your life as well as that of our congregation and community.

What We Do

Becoming a member of Sisterhood helps us to financially support Temple Israel and our community. Through its charitable endeavors, Sisterhood plays an important role in assisting social outreach. Below are just some of the many wonderful organizations we support.

  • Women of Reform Judaism
  • URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp
  • Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning Center at Temple Israel
  • Temple Israel Wendy and Avron Fogelman Religious School
  • Mother Bear Project
  • Memphis Jewish Home
  • Plough Towers
  • MIFA

Holland Bulbs

One of our largest fundraisers other than membership dues is Holland Bulbs. Each year Sisterhood provides the community the opportunity to purchase flower bulbs to beautify their home garden or to donate.

Temple Israel Judaica Shop

Volunteers from Temple Israel Sisterhood run the Mid-South’s only exclusive Judaica Shop. We offer ritual items for your home, wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, and much more. All proceeds go to supporting Sisterhood and its philanthropic initiatives and programming.

You can also call 901.937.2782 or email us, judaicashop@timemphis.org.

Programming

We offer many different programming opportunities that range from social events to educational workshops; including book clubs, game nights, opportunities to engage in social action initiatives, and a monthly Rosh Chodesh group.
