“Smart Charitable Giving” is a program that helps donors maximize their contributions to Temple Israel in a tax-efficient and strategic way. The focus is on distributing assets, like cash, securities, or real estate, directly to charities or through donor-advised funds (DAFs), which can allow for immediate tax deductions while enabling the donor to recommend grants over time. This approach leverages planned giving, such as charitable trusts or qualified charitable distributions (QCDs), from retirement accounts for those over a certain age, making giving more impactful both financially and for the charities.
