Ever since the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, 2023, Jews in the United States and the world have been baffled and horrified by the increased normalization of antisemitism and lack of empathy towards the victims of those crimes. Antisemitic demonstrations, threats of violence against the Jewish population, and anti-Israeli bias often seen in the mainstream media have filled the Jewish community in this country and elsewhere with fear and a paralyzing sense of vulnerability and isolation. In this talk, Dr. Ozmo will reflect on the nature of fear and bring a sense of perspective on the current events and the strength of the Jewish people that have allowed us to survive, persevere and succeed in the modern world. Partly informed by the experiences of generations of his own family as they walked the fine line between engaging with society and the antisemitism that constantly lurked in the shadows, Dr. Ozmo will share his message to fortify and help chart our path as members of the vibrant global Jewish community.
