A street dancer from Mumbai struggles against his parents’ insistence that he follow a traditional path. Then he meets a curmudgeonly Israeli ballet master, who inspires him to follow his dreams. Call Me Dancer is a story of hope, heartache, and hard work. Together, Manish and Yehuda transform each other’s lives, searching to uncover who and what they are. Yehuda seeks a purpose and a place to call home. Manish dreams of dancing on the world stage but struggles to break free from the confines of his own economic and social circumstances.

Join us for a special screening at Malco Ridgeway Cinema Grill & Bar. One Life is a biographical drama film directed by James Hawes. Based on the true story of British humanitarian Nicholas Winton, the film alternates between following Anthony Hopkins as a 79-year-old Winton reminiscing on his past and Johnny Flynn as a 29-year-old Winton attempting to help groups of Jewish children in German-occupied Czechoslovakia to hide and flee in 1938–39, just before the beginning of World War II. Helena Bonham Carter, Lena Olin, Romola Garai, Alex Sharp and Jonathan Pryce co-star in supporting roles.

The Memphis 13 is a group of young children who integrated the schools of Memphis, Tennessee in 1961. When these students desegregated Memphis City Schools, there was no violence like the violence witnessed in other parts of the South. The story of the Memphis 13 has been made into a documentary by Professor Daniel Kiel, a professor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and a member of Temple Israel. The documentary features interviews with the 13 students and their family members about their experiences and feelings during that time.
The Memphis 13 was created not only to share the stories of 13 incredibly brave young people but also to provide a starting point for conversations about inclusion, tolerance, and social change.
